Cambodia Receives World Literacy Award 2023

ENGLAND: Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, received the "World Literacy Award 2023" on behalf of Cambodia at the World Literacy Foundation’s summit held on 4 April 2023 at England’s Oxford University.

The award was presented in recognition of Cambodia’s excellence in setting policies that promote literacy and education.

Dr. Hang considers the award an achievement for all educators and for the education sector as a whole. According to the Ministry of Education, this award reflects the success of their education reform program meant improve the quality of education, which includes training to strengthen the abilities of both teachers and students.

The Ministry of Education went on to thank all those involved in rebuilding the Cambodian education system from scratch more than 40 years ago, after the end of the Khmer Rouge regime.

The World Literacy Foundation Award is an initiative of the World Literacy Foundation, the world's leading literacy charity, and the World Literacy Council.
